Description: The project is to explain a mathematical
concept beyond school syllabus entwined in a story to secondary
class students. The work involves choosing a story idea,
mathematical concept and then putting it all together under the
guidance of the PI.
Number of students: 6
Year of study: Students entering 2nd year, Students
entering 3rd year
CPI eligibility criteria: 7.5
Prerequisites: Should enjoy mathematics and understand
mathematical concepts well.
Duration: 6-8 months
Learning outcome: Writing skills both literary and
mathematical will be honed. We will also do school visits to
help with developing skills to break down difficult ideas into
simpler concepts.
Weekly time commitment:3 hours
General expectations: they should attend meetings and
keep PI updated on their progress
Assignment: They can talk to any to students who
participated in this exercise last year.
