Description: How poroelastic materials deforms in ideal
condition will be studied in the geological contexts. The
supervisor will set the boundary conditions. Students,
preferably from engineering backgrounds and with considerable
knowledge on poroelasticity mathematics, will solve the
problems.
Number of students: 4
Year of study: Students entering 2nd year, Students
entering 3rd year, Students entering 4th/5th year
CPI eligibility criteria: 7
Prerequisites: The student must have studied
photoelasticity course(s) from the mathematical perspective
Duration: Entire summer vacation of IIT Bombay in 2023
Learning outcome: Ideal deformation cases will be
modeled/simulated. Publications expected in quality platforms.
Weekly time commitment:40 hours
General expectations: Self motivated, keen to solve
mathematical problems. If required., software can be used such
as COMSOL.
Assignment: I want to make a video where I will state
the problem on black board. Please arrange a recording in CDEEP.
Instructions for assignment: This can be done after the
student watches the video.
